Siberian / 1999
In Response To: Tiger River by Hot Springs ()

:
We purchased our Tiger River Siberian new in March 1999. It finally died last week (January, 2011). Part of the reason it died was that my husband did not do the proper preventative maintenance on the circulation pump, even though he knew it was failing, he just kept pressing the heater reset button and hoping it would last. It did not make it, won't circulate water, and heater kept tripping off. The winters in Michigan are tough, and you can't leave a hot tub sitting outside in 20 degree weather and not expect to have problems. Heater cracked, two lines cracked, etc.

HOWEVER, this spa has been great. We used it two times a day, every day, for the past 12 years. And my husband is, at best, a little sloppy with the chemicals and water balance. We had a few issues early on with circulation pumps, heaters, ozonator, etc. But everything was covered by the warranty for 5 years. We never put any money into it. No fault warranty. Don't be fooled by other warranties. It makes a difference. Interestingly, since the warranty expired we have had relatively few issues except having to replace the cover every 4 years and the circulation pump. I think the one that died was our 3rd.

It gets the job done, works well, and didn't fall apart. The shell is perfect, looks brand new. The outer cabinet looks rough, but this was fro when they used to use actual redwood on the surround, I think they are all plastic or vinyl now. We are going back to Tiger River for our next tub.
