Long term CalSpas review: Bought new in 2001.
The bad:
Have replaced control board twice ($500 ea!) First replacement by "authorized" dealer resulted in either a rebuilt, used, or very early board revision which failed in 10 months. Everyone denies that could happen of course. Current board has been working for 3 years. Wood skirting is nearly impossible to keep from warping etc., even with repeated staining. Parts come out of the jets from time to time (o-rings, etc.) and two jets will no longer adjust. Filter skim gate constantly comes loose.
The good:
The heater works fine, pumps and plumbing are fine - no leaks either. The shell is also fine, no cracks or crazing - as good as new on day one.
CalSpas has gone through some issues, not sure if it's the same company today. Would not buy one again.
