Got my Piper Glen this past October/November. Put it on a raised deck in the back. Have it in a 12 x 16 enclosure. (Illinois winters!)
We absolutely love it! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! An absolute rolls royce of spas. (IMHO)
Why did I get a spa? It started here in Illinois with a smaller 4 seat acrylic portable. Moved to Northern Cal where I had a REDWOOD tub. BACK to acrylic - got a tiger river spa. Moved BACK to Illinois. Repairing an old house - decided to get ANOTHER spa - and now I have the largest, GRANDEST, most luxurious hot tub I've ever used.
I opted for the speckled/textured green interior (doesn't show spots as much as a smooth surface) Got the whole stereo package - behind the pillow speakers - sub woofer in the base - and the fiber optic light package. (NO, no TV or rising speakers - maintenance NITEMARES) The water proof control pad by Aeware has been a problem from day one - two of the buttons don't work. And one of my plastic intake covers has broken off - have NO idea how that happened. I'm going to call for a repair when the weather warms up completely.
I absolutely LOVE the fact that all the jets are adjustable. And you have independent on/off controls at each seat! I still haven't figured out the "direct flow" dials. I love the 5 independent pumps - with the addition of that hot tub - and the Illinois winter - my electric bill has only risen 20.00!! You CAN'T believe how efficient this tub is! Rock solid performance! The heater still drives with 4 PUMPS on - it only stops calling for heat if you drive all 5 pumps at once. So that means your tub is NOT going to cool down while you're in it! With some tubs, the heater kicks out if the ANY of the jets are on.
The foot message jets in the center base are a WONDERFUL!
Two of the seats are cut "deeper" than the others - if you want to sit with the water up to your chin - you can. (Very nice for someone like me who is 5'10") The jet configuration is different in each chair - one has an entire row focusing on upper neck-shoulder line (deep cut chair), one has center back - other has deltoid focus, etc.
Is there anything I don't like? Yes - the keypad not working is a bit annoying.
They sent it with a center filter that has a micro filter inside it. The sales person didn't tell me that - and neither did the set up crew when I asked. So it went into shut down because you can't CLEAN that micro filter in the dead of winter with just a rinse - I had a panic situation going on with a potential freeze coming. I have since retired that RED center filter to the garbage and am using 3 standard filters in all positions that can be blast cleaned with a hose or rinsed in the bathtub in the dead of winter. (Have 2 sets of filters for cycling in the winter.)
I called the dealer in a panic - they split the cost of the call with me because I wasn't told about the "red" filter. I thought that was pretty terrific!
Another con: Price is a bit high - but with all the tubs I've owned - it's WELL worth the money.
I figured this would be the last one I had. I was going all out - QUALITY-QUALITY-QUALITY. Others may have lots of glitz - all the jets - but the quality isn't there, the insulation, the hp on the pumps, etc. It seats 8 (there's only two of us!) - but space for tall people isn't an issue at all.
Would I change anything? No - I don't think so. Only had it for 6 months - but we LOVE IT! My special guy has never had a spa - and cannot believe what a difference they can make in a life. (He's never dealt with a lower quality one - so I think he's SPOILED now!)
The water balance/chemicals have been a bit of an issue for me since I've never had one this large. 550+ gallons! You make adjustments in SMALL doses (grin) - not larger because there's more water! I'm getting there.
I need to call for that intake repair - and hopefully I can get it done quickly.
Anything I wish I hadn't left out? Ok - the TV might have been kewel - but - I live in Illinois now, not California. Reality is reality. It wouldn't last with the ugly winters here.
Anything we haven't used? Nope - used every single feature on it and still do.
So, that's my review of the Piper Glen by Artesian. Fantastic tub! Well worth it!! I highly recommend this spa model and this manufacturer.
Time will tell on the endurance.
