1060/2000
In Response To: Aruba Spas ()

We bought this Aruba model 1060 from Costco in 2000 after having owned and operated our Beachcomer for over 10 years. Unfortunately, we had to leave the Beachcomer with the house we sold.

As options, we purchased the steps (which are now quite rickety), the cover butler and a lightweight cover (which we have replaced once and need to replace again).

The best thing about the Aruba is the consistency of the water temperature and the quality of the fibreglass. The worst is the jets, the lack of pressure in the water massage, & unavailability of local service.

Initially, the Aruba seemed to be a good buy. The price was somewhat less than a locally purchased model. Unfortunately, 7 years later, we are disappointed with our selection, and we have been disappointed for at least the past 4 years.

Although the moulding and fibreglass have stood the test of time, the jets are falling out like a child's teeth, coming apart and spewing the bearings and plastic bits throughout the hot tub. As well, the jets that do still function are not very powerful and do not give a vigorous water massage. One has to wonder whether the "switch" up top that controls the jets even works - turning it one way or another does not seem to do much of anything.

Aruba has been co-operative in selling us replacement jets, but we wonder about the new jets longetivity, and they do not swivel like the originals.

To do it all over again, we would have purchased another Beachcomer from a local store that would back up problems with after sales service. We see hot tubs at Costco and Home Depot all the time and we almost feel like telling those pondering them to go to a local retailer if they want satisfaction down the road.

We imagine that we will have to invest several hundreds of dollars, if not $1500 to get to the bottom of the jets issues and the lack of massage pressure. We wish that Aruba backed up their product a bit better with contracted out after sales service personnel and with deep discounts on failures like jets.

We would not recommend purchasing an Aruba for these reasons, unless you live near Kelowna where you can drive to their offices to get satisfaction.
