In Response To: Four Winds Spas (-)

I paid $6000 for this junk??? My review is partly based on the quality of the spa itself, and partly on the service of the store we bought from: Pool & Spa Depot in Hendersonville and the store in Nashville.

First, we wet-tested the Caribbean model in the Pool & Spa Depot, and liked it so we bought it. Probably not a fair test because we had a hard time finding stores that had hot tubs filled to test, so we ended up buying at the first store that did have more than one filled (with hot water!) to test.

When it was delivered, it was clearly not the Caribbean in the brochure we brought home. It was 2 pumps instead of 3, and was missing several jets. Pool & Spa depot said that one of the "sales girls" had the wrong sign on the spa we wet tested, and we had actually sat in the Dominica (not the Caribbean he wrote on our sales order), so we "got the spa we tested". Didn't sound legitimate to us, but we were happy enough with the product in the first week that we didn't argue and tried to take their word for it. It was delivered missing the corner therapy seat pillow, with promises that they had run out and it would be shipped to us. We've had the tub for OVER TWO MONTHS, and even after multiple phone calls and promises "its in the mail", we're still lacking that pillow. ALSO, the spa is completely lacking the two pop-up waterfalls and the handle water fall that were supposed to come on it (both the Caribbean and the Dominica models allegedly come with it, ours has none). We were also told that the arm jets pictured in the brochure were "incorrect" and that's why we don't have that either. Pool & Spa depot said they would (at least) send us a $200 check for the missing waterfalls OVER 6 WEEKS ago and we never got that either. When we tried going to a different sales rep with our woes about everything that was lacking on our spa, he told us they were going to ship us a new hot tub. We were fine with that but then four weeks went by and it never happened, and now neither store will return our calls! Now, the hot tub is making a HUGE RATTLING RACKET when you turn on the main pump. This heap of junk was manufactured in early Feb 2006 and its not even May yet, and we're already having these kinds of problems with it?

DO NOT BUY a Four Winds Spa. They are NOISY (not just the recent rattling also the diverter has been LOUD since day 1) and 90% of the jets the small kind that tend to irritate your skin within a few minutes. If you're in the Nashville area, stay away from Pool & Spa Depot. They promise you things that they have NO INTENTION of delivering.

  • What accessories/options, beyond the "basic spa" does, your spa have?

  • What might you change if you had to "do it all over"?

  • Is there anything you're sorry you left out?

  • Are there any features you now feel aren't necessary?

  • Have you encountered any problems, and if so, how were they resolved?
