6 man / 2002

In Response To: Softub (-)

We have had the Softub for three years this Christmas. We bought it for it's ease of relocation although it did not move for 2.5 years. It is ok for 4 but 6 would be pushing it -- water level would go too high & all those legs! Started out using Chlorine but switched to floating Bromide which we much prefer. I really like the rotating jets which give a stronger massage. I wish there was a way to have a "jet on a stick" which could be adjusted to massage hard to get at areas. Does anyone have this? The split cover is normally just folded back. Maybe there are some that like the small built in seat . I have never seen it used as everyone likes to get low & wet up to the neck.
Now PROBLEMS The pump/heater failed after 2 years & a couple of months leaving a repair bill of $343 Canadian . Seemed like a bushing or bearing let go as it got progressively worse over amonth or so. Why they didn't choose a pump where the bearings were replaceable I do not know -- BIG oversite. I would also look for a seperate heater to take load off the expensive pump. After the replacement the jets do not seem to have the same strength as before -- maybe a concession to make the unit last longer? Unit is a tad noisy but I am half deaf so?
We bought after Brother-in-law had good long term life on a 4 man unit but will think twice when replacement comes up again.
