In Response To: Great Lakes Spas (-)

We have owned our spa since October of last year. It is a pretty basic tub, but it is just right for a couple. The two deep seats are a good depth, even though the tub is listed as being more shallow than other tubs. One seat is deeper than the other; I am 5'8", and if I sit in that seat, I am up to my chin. The other one is just right for me. The bench seating is shallower, more like a cool down area; I think we will use that more in the hot weather. The deeper seat has the neck jets; personally they don't do much for your neck, they hit your shoulders more. We only flip back half the cover, so we don't have a cover lifter. You do have to use the aerator dial if you want to get much jet action, otherwise the jets aren't real great without it. But you can adjust them to really go to town. It is supposed to have an economy mode, but I have not been able to get it to work. I did call the dealer, and they called me back several days later and gave me the same instructions that were in the pamplet, so either I can't use it, it's not on this particular model, or it doesn't work. But it doesn't seem to matter that much; we just keep the tub temp at 98, then pop it up to 101 when we use it; after 1 cycle, you can feel the difference in the temp. The thing that really sold us on this particular brand was the fact that both the tub and the cabinet are insulated; we were just going to go for the insulated cabinet, but decided that in Michigan we had better get all the insulating factors we can get. Even my Dutch raised husband has been happy over the electric bill so far. Also, they dealt with the wood vs steel frame in a totally different matter; with the unibody construction, there is none of either, so nothing to rust or rot. The other thing my spouse was happy about was the solid base attached, so we don't have to worry about any critters deciding to make it their home. Even the bench seat is not just totally basic or boring; that is where they left the rotating jets. I'd have liked some jets where they could hit your wrists a little better for when your hands are killing you. We keep a spa blanket on pretty much all the time except when we are actually in the tub; so it probably also helps with the bill. Over good satisfaction for first time owners.
