I purchased my Hawkeye Spa from the factory. Spa arrived via North American Van Lines. Spa was on a pallet and wrapped with foam padding, and a plastic covering, the Spa Cover was in a seperate cardboard box strapped to the spa. The delivery men helped me get it on to my concrete pad which was just past the driveway. We just rolled it to the pad and then lowered it. Spa looks good and jets feel fine. Tub has three sta-rite pumps. Workmanship is in line with other spas I looked at. The control panel on my tub is not the same as the one in the sales ad or the manual, the control panel I have does not have all of the functions the manual has. I will be writing them a letter to find out why the change. They also did not even include any operating instructions for the control panel I got. One sugestion is they should use Star Drive Stainless Steel screws in place of the Stainless Steel Phillips Head Screws to hold the side panels in place. Yea, I know all the Spas manufactures use Phillips Head Screws. Phillips head screws then to strip out after a few removals, were Star Drive Screws tend to hold up better if you have to remove them more than once, like getting to the pumps at the access panel. I do think they need to work on Quality Control, I found the Stereo System did not have a Ground Wire attached to the grounding lug, and it also blew the 5 AMP glass fuse in the Power supply, They installed the power supply with the fuse facing the corner of the tub so I had to remove it from it's mounted position to replace the fuse, wire was to short for me to remount it correctly so I had to put it back the way it was. If the fuse goes again I will take the time to rewire it for easy access to the fuse. They should have mounted this better as they had lots of room maybe the installer cut the wire to short who knows. This missing ground got me looking harder at the other electrical componets to make sure they had a proper ground, they did. One of the jets was not working due to silicone. Although both of these were an easy fix htye also should have been found at the factory. Spa did not arrive with the starter chemical kit I called factory and they said they would send one out via UPS, they said they do not ship the kits with the spa because they can get lost so they send them out seperate from the spa. I am still waiting for it to come in. Spa has two filters, two of the seats have a molded neck head rest that feels comfortable with three neck jets and several back jets in the seat, one seat fits me just fine I am 5' 10" the other is smaller and my shoulders do not allow water to come out of neck jets, but this is a better size seat for the wife and kids and jets are the same in both seats. Two seats have no jets, one seat has only one jet for your lower back, then you have a seat with like 12 jets, and the two other seats I mentioned first. I guess they also consider the waterfall with is over the filters to be a seat but you have to kneel and sit in the foot well. The foot well has a huge jet and eight small jets, this feels great on the feet and lower legs, foot well has lots of room even with this jet in the center. LED lights are nice addition, but two of the dirverter valve handles do not light up, will need to call and ask if they should as the other two dirverters do light up. I also went with the plastic wood look sides, did not want to deal with coating the real wood every year. I live in the New England and the insulation is so so, the cover is like 4" tapered to 2", not sure of the "R" value. They offer spa with thermal insulation or full foam. Over all I am happy with my purchase, for a family of four its is a good size tub at a good price under $6,000 delivered. I knew going into it that I would be doing any repairs so not buying from a dealer was no big deal. Any thing I buy that has a parts warrentry I fix myself never liked paying for service calls or delaing with a half trained employee who was learning on my appliance no matter how much or little I paid for it. I'll repost after I have contacted Hawkeye about my control panel, maybe someone just installed the wrong panel, if so they will swap it out I m sure.
