Re: Catalina Spas service tech
In Response To: Re: Catalina Spas service tech ()

: you said its doing the same thin with the new
: c-board,what was the problem to begin???
:
there are two issues...the pumps and jets all seem to be working fine...the temperature seems to be okay, not more than two degrees ever off from what it is set for...problem from the git go was that the PH sensor first always read it was too high...and gave some cockamamie number...when you pressed the button 3 times...like 80 or 90...even when all my tests said it was perfect..and the ORB sensor showed up once in 5 months...and then never ever again...first my dealer was told that there were jumper cables from the control board to wherever (I am not an electrician... ) and he told me that there were no jumper cables attached to the control board and that was the problem...(quality control on Catalina's or Balboa's part) and they were going to send him out cables...so they sent him out some cables and he came out once again and I guess he put them on someplace...(this was the dealer himself out here as he has been in the business 17 years and knows his equipment...but this control box was brand new and mine was one of the first ones he got in with it being the three pumps instead of the old two pump control board...so he can be forgiven for not being up to speed on that issue...then after he left, there was the ph sensor working pretty good and the Orb sensor just didn't show up at all after the first couple of times...so they called Balboa again and were told this time that there are no jumper cables on the board for these sensors and it must be a bad control board and sent out a new board for the spa...(four weeks from push to shove, of course, on this issue...) meanwhile, the copper ion machine, called the Ion Perfector is working perfectly, copper flowing at .4-6 ppm like it should, outside of the sensors not working, I am happy as a pig in mud...the sensors are not the end of the world...but they should be working as they were paid for essentially by me...

So, the new control board gets put onto the spa and low and behold, from the moment the four minutes are up and the thing starts to do it's routine, the PH sensors start yapping TOO HIGH when I know it is perfect...Taylor, Aquacheck and the brand Dr. Spa marks with ####'s all say it's fine...ORB non existent...but two days later, copper ion system blows out...and this is the third copper machine to blow itself out since the spa was installed in the yard. It's under warranty and they are sending me another one (the 4th) but I really wonder if they aren't installing it wrong on this board...as what on earth can be causing this to keep happening...? And there you have the whole story...I will open the door tomorrow morning and message you with whatever I read on the label on the board..Thanks...Roberta
