Water

My wife and I have enjoyed our hot tub almost daily since we purchased it July of last year. Our owner's manual indicates we should change the water every six months. After eight months our water is still very clear, smells good, and all the chemical levels seem fine. Is there another reason we should change the water? Water is at a premium where we live.
