I have a Sunrise spa and have recently had an issue of White flakes in the bottom of the seats - I use Bromine and the brand name of the chemicals I use is Spa Boss. We have always had an issue with the alkalinity being low as well as the PH. We use Alka-up to correct the problem, but it seems like we are using it all the time - if the alkalinity reading is within acceptable levels it will only last a few days then we have to use the Alka-up for two or three days to get the reading back to the acceptable levels. So three Questions: 1) Am I correct in assuming the white flakes are a scale issue? 2) If it is a scale issue what would you suggest as a solution? The deposit of flakes appear to be getting worse. 3) Is the fact that my alkalinity and PH readings are low for the majority of time a cause for the scale?
