First, congratulations on your Optima. I am sure you are enjoying it.
Your ozonator runs 24/7 if your circ pump is programmed to run this way. Most program it this way. The only time it won't run is when you turn on another pump. The ozonator will stop producing ozone until about five minutes after the pump shuts off. The logic behind this is when you are in the spa (pumps on) you are not subjected to the ozone off gas. Though not the best thing to inhale, ozone in an outdoor spa is really not a worry. Warm or cold makes no difference. Your spa pillows and underside of cover, however, could see the negative effects of ozone because they are locked in a closed space with ozone running pretty much constantly. The actual benefits of ozone in a spa has been debated many times, so it is personal preference.
If you are using your spa three times a day, you probably don't have to add chlorine each time as long as you have a good free chlorine residual after getting out each time.
: I'm a little confused. I have a Sundance Optima (I've had it for about a
: month now and am loving every minute of it) and my circulator runs
: 24/7 so I assuming so does the ozonator. If that is the case, does it
: make a difference whether or not it is cold out? I was also under the
: impression that the ozone breaks down so quickly that is isn't really
: a health concern. Am I wrong?
: On a side note, If I use the tub 3 times in one day, should I chlorinate
: after each use? If my chlorine is at 3ppm going in, do I need to
: chlorinate going out?
: Thanks!
