Re: older jacuzzi laser model?
In Response To: older jacuzzi laser model? ()

: i recently acquired a jacuzzi whirlpool bath hot tub. it is octagonal in
: shape. runs on either 115v/ 240v ( now it is set up for 115v with
: cord). the hot tub has 4 jets, two upper skimmer baskets, and one
: lower level drain. it also has a waterfall feature and a 6 button /
: dial type thermostat. the buttons do not seem to be air powered but
: more of the blister type switches. there are 2 venturi air intakes on
: the opposite side of the top side control...the sticker plate reads:
: model # 6500000000. name laser. mfg # 0885-09. and serial # 650239...
: i have tried the jacuzzi customer service to no avail.. my question
: to you is do you know anything about this model and where i can get
: parts if needed and perhaps literature on this model... thanks in
: advance... jay

I probably forgot more about this model than the current Jacuzzi customer service droids can ever learn. I started doing JWB service work in 1984 and this is one of the models that I cut my teeth on. The original controller was manufactured by a company called Catalina Controls. They were bought up and the electronics continued to be manufactured under various names (Brett Aqualine, Len Gordon, Allied Innovations). This equipment was all based on the BL-40 controls, which have also been discontinued. However, the BL-50 topside and the replacement circuit board is still available from at least one wholesaler (Horizon). If your local pool/spa dealer has a Horizon account, he can order replacement electronics. The air controls are specific to JWB and no longer made. I think I have a couple left. I hoarded a bunch when they discontinued it. Jet, suction and skimmer parts are easy to obtain. The flow switch is no longer supported, but you can glue in a replacement with no problems. The motors are quite robust, but the wet ends (proprietary) are very expensive.

What problem are you having??

John
