Others have asked in the past about using epsom salts as their hot tub chemical. I've seen 'repair people' poo-poo it, citing corrosion. I doubt that they've seen this problem, since hardly anyone uses epsom salts with the fear of violating their warranty, etc. Well, I have a 23 year-old Hot Spring hot tub -- 300 gal. 2 years ago I finally had to replace the pump. I switched over to 4 lbs. epsom salts/100 gal. and it's been clean, clear, and running great ever since. I change the water 2X/year. My chemical costs are 1/10th of what they were and the water is healthier to the body. If your hot tub is out of warranty, I'd switch over to epsom salts: 4 lbs./100 gallons.
