Then this (as image showing) is clearly wrong and the reason to the cover tear. I will remount it.

: If you flip half the cover back, you should see the "hook" of
: the U on the bottom of the hinge. If you don't, it's installed
: incorrectly and will do exactly what's happening. There's special
: reinforcement in the hinge, but the "U clip" HAS to go
: under it.

: You don't need an entire new cover....just the vinyl covering can be
: replaced.
