Water leak bewtween Volute & Motor

I can see it's coming from the rear volute where it meets the motor. I removed from motor from spa, took apart the motor to where armature, volute case & impeller are together, but can't get the impeller off. I have tried holding the shaft in a vase and gripping the impeller with my large pipe wrench, and tried to loosen (normal left to loose) but have slight damaged the impeller now...
