I have had a Genesis generator for about 15 months and am on my 3rd electrode and am experiencing soot yet again. I have been in contact with both my retailer (who is a 4 hr drive away) and the technician for the manufacturer. I have a cedar tub. My husband (a pipe fitter) installed the system with his friend (a stationery engineer). Pictures of the installation were emailed to both and both confirmed the installation looked okay. Before the last electrode (July) was installed, we installed the air flow fitting with guidance from the technician. It was good for about a month. My chemical readings are in range and I have taken samples to a local dealer to confirm. the 12 hr pump is set to 7. Currently the Genesis is set at 5. I have no problem producing Bromine - the water is clear. It did spike shortly after the air fitting was installed but I was able to bring it down quickly and am maintaining Bromine with some minor fluctuations. I try to run the jets every few days. Neither the retailer nor the tech believe that there is a problem with the unit itself. What doesn't seem quite right is that the manual says if using a 12 hr pump, the unit should only have lights on when circulating - mine are on all the time.
I have read all your threads on the subject and you seem to have more helpful info than either the retailer or tech but I am at a loss. I really don't want to give up on the system but may have to - the soot really is taking away from the enjoyment.
Any ideas at all?
Thank you.
