I think it may have to do with your going away, with the dial at ten.

I did that a few months ago, when I was new to the system. The problem is that the generator is not a thermostat. The generator doesn't know how much Bromine is in the tub. It just keeps making Bromine, forever.

With the dial set at the max, at ten, it will make a lot of Bromine every day. And with no bathers, there are no organic molecules to interact with, and use up, the Bromine.

When I came back from holidays, the Bromine levels were way too high. If you had excessive Bromine, that may have caused an early degeneration of your electode.
