Re: Genesis, Bromine Generator [Thoughts & Opinion

: hi GS - sorry i didn't catch this post sooner. i guess either your doing fine or your pulling your hair out by now. i'm curious, you said you got the tub last fall but it seems you just refilled it in april.did you not have it working thru the winter? also was the system added to the spa in sept. 07 or did you purchase the spa in sept. with it installed? any ways it may take a day or two before it comes up to 2-5 br depending how much sanitizing of your water is needed. i keep mine around 2. another issue is how often is it running in a 24 hr. period. if your not having any luck test your water for phosphates ,you can buy test strips for this. phosphates can hinder Bromine production.the production of Bromine will push your ph up to 8-8.2 you can drive yourself crazy trying to keep it down. i personally keep my ta 80-90 and don't worry about the ph being high.i have had no issues with any scaling ,cloudy water or Bromine production.i have found that there was no noticable difference in increased Bromine production when i tried to maintain my ph around 7.5. The genesis controller is a fairly simple device it either is working or not.if you can see gas bubbles being produced at the electrode, then it is producing Bromine. the higher the # the more bubbles produced. all you really need to see is about 2 br.you do not need to shock it to destroy brominines as the system is constantly doing that while it is producing Bromine.if your expecting heavy use add a tbs. of MPS. to bump up the br. and crank it up to 10 for one to two days.by then everything should be eaten up by the Bromine and you can reduce your settings.i have mine on my circ. pump which runs 24/7 . imop this is the best way to run the system . i can't recommend any electronic water tester. i just use a pool and spa test kit . i compare my readings on my initial fill with a spa stores test readings to make sure my test chemicals are good . i use test strips for a quick check of my Bromine content.

hope this helps and good luck
