waterlogged Suftub lid?

I recently picked up a used Softub for a great price, but the material covering the underside of the lid was partially undone. The lid is very heavy, but made of Styrofoam, so I assume it is waterlogged. I took all the coverings off & left it out in the sun, but it doesn't seem to be getting any lighter. If water got in, won't it come out?
